It's been a beautiful and BUSY summer for many of you all! And we still have a lot of summer left, but before we know it fall will be here and school will be back in session, and travel patterns will change!
We are convening this breakfast (and possibly a few more over the coming weeks!) so that businesses, event organizers, and collaborative partners can put their heads together and discuss how to make the shoulder and colder seasons more successful.
We will make an effort to prepare tools to capture the collective ideas, but WE ENCOURAGE YOU ALL TO PREPARE IN ADVANCE and think about the following questions:
- Looking back from early May until now: how is the current season going? How is this year comparing to last or the last 3-4?
- How has traffic been over the course of the various large events that have taken place? (Tree Planting in early May, The Bus Fair, Mountain Bike Oregon, Sasquatch Fest, 4th of July, Uptown Art Walks, Concerts in the Park, the opening of the Aufderheide, etc)
- Are we prepared for if fires or smoke and air quality were to re-emerge and impact tourism?
- What do we know about upcoming events and weekends? How to we make what is already planned more successful (whether for the event, for more local businesses, for locals)?
- What's working well in marketing and promotion that we can learn from?
Again we may not be able to cover all of this groundwork in one session, but we could think through a purpose and topics for an upcoming session!
